Consultation

To find out how I can help you with your projects, the first thing you have to do is contact me. Send me an email about what your project is and what you’re looking for, the length of the project, and any questions. Concerning length, try to give me an idea of how many words or pages you will need. I do this over email so that everything is in writing. I respond to emails within 48 hours, though normally I respond much sooner than that.

Once we’ve discussed your project, I will give you an estimate. When everything is ready to begin work and all details are ironed out, I’ll give you a quote. When you accept the quote, I will email or fax you my agreement. The reason I request that you sign an agreement is to help protect us both – it will help ensure that your project is finished on time, and that I am paid in a timely fashion. The contract will be tailored to your needs. There will be a deadline included so you’ll know when you will get a first draft of your project to look at. Most of the time, I ask for half the project fee up front, and I will start working on your project after I have a signed agreement and deposit. I will be happy to honor your request if you wish me to sign your agreement, such as a non-compete agreement.

The more you can give me to go on, the better. Outlines and bullet points are wonderful, for example. We’ll work together to make sure I have an idea of your needs, tone, and style and then I’ll have your project completed according to the deadline we set.

Rates

Depending on what you need, my rates are by the word, by the hour, and by the project. This website is is my basis for rates. Contact me to see what will work for you, and if there is any way I can work with you on pricing. I generally bill to the quarter hour, which saves you money. I will charge based on the method you and I decide (by hour, word, or project) and if negotiation is possible will be happy to do so.

Revisions

I will always do revisions and editing if necessary. If I need to make adjustments to your project, at least one round of revisions will be complimentary. Additional editing rounds are billed by the quarter-hour.

Payment

Payments can be made with Paypal or check. Please note that if you pay your deposit with a check, I will not begin work until the check clears. If you pay all upfront, I will begin work once the check clears. Trusted clients don’t have to worry if they have been reliable with payments; I will work with you.

I will charge 1.5% interest on unpaid invoices after 30 days, unless I have a written agreement with the client.
